Cr34
Open Cluster in Cassiopeia

About
A small open cluster in Cassiopeia, embedded in the head of the Soul Nebula (IC 1848) and 10.1′ from Collinder 33. The Soul sits in the Perseus arm, roughly 7,500 light-years from Earth.
Imaging tips
- At 970–1620 mm on APS-C (1490–2480 mm on full frame) the cluster, about 25′ across, spans a third to half of the frame.
- Cr33 is 10.1′ away, so both clusters fit in the same field.
- Cluster stars suit broadband; the glowing gas of the Soul around it is a separate target.
- Best around October and November; it peaks near 79° altitude from 50°N.
