Sh2-112
HII Region in Cygnus

About
A small, roughly round cloud of glowing hydrogen in Cygnus, about 5,600 light-years away, lit by the double star BD+45 3216. Over a hundred young star candidates have been found inside it, and a broad dust band runs along its western side.
Imaging tips
- Only about 15′ across: at 1620–2690 mm on APS-C (2480–4130 mm full frame) it fills a third to half of the frame.
- An emission nebula, so narrowband suits it. One imager found the Hα and SII signal strong but the OIII weak.
- That imager gathered roughly 5.7 hours Hα, 5 hours OIII and 4.4 hours SII in 300 s subs through a 130 mm refractor.
- Best in July and August; it passes almost overhead, about 86° altitude from 50°N.
