H-NGC6910
Open Cluster in Cygnus

About
The Inchworm Cluster, a young open cluster in Cygnus about 3,710 light-years away and 7 to 13 million years old. It is the core of the Cygnus OB9 association, and clouds in front of it make it over a magnitude fainter.
Imaging tips
- Framing runs from 3030 to 5050 mm on APS-C for the cluster alone, which spans about 8–10′.
- Gamma Cygni (Sadr) lies about half a degree away, so a wider field brings in a very bright star along with the cluster.
- The cluster lies close to the nebula IC 1318. One imager spent 33.5 hours with SHO filters on a 200 mm f/4 Newtonian and singled out the OIII filter as working particularly well.
- Best in July and August; it climbs to about 81° from 50°N.
