H-NGC6207
Galaxy in Hercules

About
A spiral galaxy in Hercules, about 30 million light-years away and roughly 1,200 times farther than M13, which lies about 28′ from it on the sky (approximate). Its H II regions show star formation still under way. It is on the Herschel 400 list.
Imaging tips
- About 3×1′, so it is too small to frame: use a long focal length and a fine pixel scale.
- M13 is roughly 28′ away (approximate), so a wide field is needed to take both.
- One imager caught NGC 6207 at the left of a frame with IC 4617 at its centre, using four 5-minute exposures.
- Best around May and June; it peaks near 77° altitude from 50°N.
