H-NGC4395
Galaxy in Canes Venatici

About
A low-surface-brightness spiral in Canes Venatici, about 14 million light-years away, with no bulge. Its nucleus is active: among Seyfert galaxies it is both nearby and very dim, and its central black hole is estimated at only 4,000 to 20,000 solar masses.
Imaging tips
- At 13×11′ it needs 1860–3110 mm on APS-C or 2860–4760 mm on full frame.
- Very faint at 24 mag/arcsec², so plan many hours of broadband data.
- Best around March and April; it peaks near 74° altitude from 50°N.
