H-NGC2395
Open Cluster in Gemini

About
A small, loose open cluster in Gemini, listed in the Herschel 400, with about 30 stars counted and its brightest near magnitude 10. A distance of roughly 1,700 light-years has been estimated for it.
Imaging tips
- Spans about 12′, so 2020–3370 mm on APS-C or 3090–5160 mm on full frame gives a snug frame.
- The Medusa Nebula lies about half a degree to the southeast, beyond a frame sized for the cluster; a wider field is needed to take both.
- At 22 mag/arcsec² the cluster itself is on the faint side; best around December and January, peaking near 54° from 50°N.
