H-NGC2335
Open Cluster in Monoceros

About
About 4,600 light-years away in Monoceros, this open cluster marks the north end of a line of clusters that runs along the Seagull Nebula (IC 2177).
Imaging tips
- Magnitude 7.2 and 21.2 mag/arcsec²: a broadband target, since a star cluster has no nebula to filter for.
- The Seagull Nebula shows only as a faint haze behind the cluster.
- 2,020–3,370 mm on APS-C or 3,090–5,160 mm on full frame fits a 12′ cluster.
- Best in December and January, but it peaks near 30° altitude from 50°N.
