Cr62
Open Cluster in Auriga

About
A loose, scattered open cluster in Auriga, about 5° south of Capella and roughly 4,800 light-years away. At a real diameter near 49 light-years it is large and sparse. The bright star HR 1760 in the field is a much closer foreground star, not a member.
Imaging tips
- At 610–1,010 mm on APS-C the cluster fills a third to half of the frame; on full frame use 930–1,550 mm.
- Surface brightness is about 21 mag/arcsec², not faint, but the cluster is sparse: the stars are the subject, so broadband is the right choice.
- Best placed from November to December.
