Reflection Nebula in Orion

About
A blue reflection nebula in Orion, next to the red emission nebula Sh2-263. Other names for it are Cederblad 44, DG 53 and Magakian 97.
Imaging tips
- About 4′ across, so it is too small to frame: use a long focal length and a fine pixel scale.
- One source calls this a seldom imaged area and separates the two: the blue reflection nebula is vdB 38 and the red emission nebula is Sh2-263.
- Broadband suits the blue reflection nebula; one imager collected 840 min of LRGB in 10 min subs (14 hours in total).
- Best around November and December; it stays below about 48° altitude from 50°N.
