About
A reflection nebula in Cygnus about 1.5° southwest of Sadr, lit by HD 228789 in a very young cluster. Its distance was first put at about 3,260 light-years and later revised to about 4,890.
Imaging tips
- At about 15′, 1620–2690 mm on APS-C puts it at a third to half of the frame.
- Reflection nebula, so shoot broadband.
- One imager used a 12-inch f/3.6 astrograph: 12 × 10 min luminance and 6 × 10 min each of red, green and blue, 5 hours in total.
- The small HII region DWB34 is linked to the same structure as the nebula.
- Best around July and August; it peaks near 79° altitude from 50°N.
