Dark Nebula in Taurus

About
A dark nebula in Taurus, a dense cloud of interstellar dust that dims the stars behind it. It measures about 30×20′ on the sky, so it covers a wide patch of field rather than a small spot.
Imaging tips
- At 810–1350 mm on APS-C (1240–2060 mm full frame) the cloud fits a frame, with its 30×20′ extent taking a good part of it.
- Dust grains do the dimming, so the cloud shows only as a dark patch against the stars behind it: shoot broadband.
- Best in November and December; it peaks near 66° altitude from 50°N.
