Dark Nebula in Scutum

About
A small dark nebula in Scutum, about 8′ by 5′, listed in Barnard's catalogue of dark markings. Like other dark nebulae it is a dense cloud of dust that blocks the light of the stars behind it.
Imaging tips
- Only about 8′ by 5′: 3030–5050 mm on APS-C, and too small to frame on full frame.
- Dark nebulae need broadband. One imager's wide 4.83° LRGB-filter field held it together with NGC 6664, NGC 6649 and the star Alpha Scuti.
- One imager's session table lists 5 × 300 s of luminosity, 25 minutes in all, at 7.538″ per pixel.
- Best around June and July, but it peaks near 31° altitude from 50°N and near 46° from 35°N.
- One imager photographed this cloud with a 12-inch f/8 Meade LX600 and a DSLR, using a focal reducer at prime focus, and presented it in black and white.
