Arp284
Galaxy in Pisces

About
Pisces holds this interacting pair, NGC 7714 with NGC 7715. NGC 7714 is a distorted spiral, about 117 million light-years away from its redshift, while other measurements give about 92 million. Arp listed the pair among "Galaxies with infall and attraction". Three supernovae have been recorded in NGC 7714.
Imaging tips
- Too small to frame at about 3×2′: it needs a long focal length and a fine pixel scale.
- Faint for its size at 22.9 mag/arcsec², so plan many hours of broadband data.
- One imager collected about 6 hours in total: 3 h 20 min of luminance and 55 min each of red, green and blue, in a field about 38′ wide.
- Best from August to October; it stays below 43° altitude from 50°N.
